My Year in Review: Loves of 2013

Hello all! As it is already January 6, 2014, I am a few days late to the party, but it is always better late than never, am I right? I've decided to put together a small list of my "best beauty products" of 2013. If you don't mind I'd like to throw in some random things I've taken to loving throughout the year, as well as makeup and beauty products. Let's hop right in!

First of all, we all need to wash our faces. If you aren't currently in the habit of washing your face everyday and night, I highly recommend you take it up. It's so relaxing and beneficial, trust me. My favorite face wash of the year was, hands down, the Saint Ives Apricot Scrub, particularly the Blemish Control formula. It's going to cost you around $3 and it is worth every penny.

Typically I moisturize after I wash my face, and this year, I found myself rubbing in my Lush Skin Drink. At first use, I thought it might have been way too thick for me but after a little playing around, it finally sunk in that just a tad of this cream will do and I figured out how to make it work for me. One pot of this stuff could last you a lifetime, and I found myself avoiding the expiration date on mine... Whoops! Its a tad bit pricey for us budget chic girls at $23.95 so I would 100% recommend checking it out in store before making the decision to buy it. Unless you have an extra $24 hanging around. In that case, can I borrow some cash?

Foundation for me is a tough one because for most of the year, I didn't really wear any! Blessed with a decent complexion, I don't always feel the need to wear foundation. When I did, however, I mostly used BB creams and I really loved the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. It has a pretty light coverage but is definitely build-able for me. At $7.59, it's worth a shot! My shade was is light medium.
Next in line is concealer. Aye ye ye, concealer. I struggle so hard with it, especially under my eyes. I tried my best this year to figure out what would work best for me and I have two concealers that I like (notice I didn't say love--I'm still searching!) the most. First is the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser ($7.50) in the color fair. I used this mostly for my under eye circles and it was easily the best coverage for me. Next, for blemishes, I used Benefit Fake Up ($24) in the color medium which was easily way too dark for me but I tried to fix that with face powder. Hopefully I didn't look too psychotic.. hehe?

I'm going to do face powder, bronzer, and blush all in one category to speed things up a bit. Face powder is easy for me! I loved my Rimmel Stay Matte powder in transparent ($3.97). Cheap and universal, what more could I ask for? For bronzer, I was all about NYC Smooth Skin bronzer in Sunny ($2). Allegedly its comparable to Benefit's Hoola, but I'll get back to ya on that one.... Finally for blush, I LOVED my Tarte Cheek Stain in Awakening ($30). It's expensive and beautiful on any skin tone, I promise.

Eyeshadow is rare for me, but when I wore it this year, I used my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette ($52). I would have chose the Naked 3, but I didn't get it until the last drop of 2013 (keep your eyes peeled for a review with swatches coming very soon!). For Eyeliner, I'm 100% all about my Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper ($18). It's perfect in every single way. Mascara was Benefit They're Real ($23). My mom and I can't get enough of the stuff!

Last but NEVER least (practically first in my book), comes lip products. Something you will learn very quickly is I am a lip balm junkie. As I type, I literally have a lip balm (The Body Shop's Born Lippy in raspberry) sitting on my laptop... I kid you not. So here I go in an attempt to narrow down my millions of lip products down into two of my favorites. Ready... Set.. GO! I love Maybelline Babylips, my favorite shade being 60 Melon Mania ($4), however I am a sucker for each and every single shade. My favorite lipstick of the year was the lovely Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Creme in 477 Black Cherry ($7.99). It's very dark and dramatic but I highly recommend it! Play around with it, you'll feel vampy and sexy and unconventional... oh my!

So there you have it! My favorite beauty products of 2013! I hope you all enjoy and stick around to see what I have in store for the upcoming 2014! I'm so excited!! Comment below what your must have products were/are. I'm always looking to expand my collection...
