Just a quick disclaimer.... I'm not a beauty guru or swatch queen. These descriptions and swatches might be the least bit helpful to you! I just hope that as time goes on, I'll improve a bit! So bear with me please :)
Now here we go!
First off, I'm sure you all know what the Naked 3 looks like, but just incase you don't here is a mediocre picture!
(Please excuse the timestamp... cameras aren't my specialty)
The packaging is different from the velour, fuzzing feeling Naked palette, and is similar to Naked 2 but is more textured. To me, it seems a little pointless. I think I prefer the plain texture of the Naked 2. Both the 2 and 3 often times give me trouble when it comes to closing it. Something with the alignment of the top and bottom pieces on both palettes is off and I would attribute it to the piece that connects the top and bottom. I feel like it's just a tad bit flimsy and wouldn't be surprised if the pieces broke off, but I'm a worrier so I could just be dramatic!
The palette comes with four different samples of the Urban Decay Primer Potion, but don't get too excited. The samples come in packets and claim to have a weeks worth of use in each packet but once it's opened it all goes downhill. If you can make each one last a week, please tell me how you do it!
Now, on to the good stuff.... the shadows!
From right to left: Strange, Dust, Burnout, Limit, Buzz, Trick, Nooner, Liar, Factory, Mugshot, Darkside, Blackheart
Here is my brutal opinion. Personally, I've seen the darker shades before. I own the Naked 2 and when I put them side-by-side, they stand out because they're so similar. In my eyes, there is only so much you can do to make a dark brown different from another dark brown. Yes, these shades are new, but no, I don't feel like just based on the five darkest shades anyone should run out and buy the palette. With that said, Blackheart is absolutely stunning in person and my swatch does it no justice.
The lighter shades are definitely the selling point of Naked 3 for me and they are the exact reason I wanted to buy it. They are more rosy and pink toned than characteristically other Naked shadows are and I assumed they would be perfect for my fair skin tone. After trying them out, I've realized that you have to be very careful with some of them. For example, the shadow Liar initially seemed like a nice lid color for me, but when I put it I quickly noticed that it made my eyes look sickly and just wrong. Initially, I saw it as a light brown, similar to Nooner, however it is far more pink than it is brown. I am in love with Dusty and Trick, but be careful of intense glitter fallout (not necessarily a bad thing if you're a glitter girl like me!).
My three favorite shades, as swatched here, are Dusty, Trick and Blackheart!
Basically, there are pros and cons to this palette, which is a given. Would I recommend it over the other Naked palettes? Not for everyone. I would, however, recommend thinking of your skin tone when considering which palette to purchase or if you should purchase this one. Also, I recommend watching a few tutorials and seeing if you like the looks you can create with the Naked 3. Strawberryelectric48 on YouTube has one or two that I'd recommend.
I like this palette overall and I feel like the more I play around with it, the more I'll enjoy it. If I come up with any life altering looks, I'll blog a tutorial!
Until next time!
